Overview
Comparing grocery prices normally means opening Metro, IGA, Maxi, Super C, Provigo, Walmart — each with its own navigation, cart and format. Food·Ka inverts the problem: one dedicated connector per banner visits each site, normalizes every product to a single schema with a comparable unit price in $/100 g, and detects price changes continuously, historizing every variation in a price log.
As of 2026-08-24 the catalogue counts 50,892 products from 57 sources in 18 canonical categories, including 8,818 products on sale — major banners as well as specialized and independent grocers (Mayrand, Avril, PA, Tau, Giant Tiger, SAQ…). Each product page shows equivalents at other banners through a cross-banner matching engine.
Fidelity rules mirror the rest of the ecosystem: no invented prices (null when absent), inconsistent regular prices rejected, throttled requests with an identified User-Agent, and every non-connectable banner documented with its reason in the source registry. The PWA front end is mobile-first with a real-time ticker and the shared ka-ui design system.
